What do you do when you feel chaotic or have pent-up energy within? For this kundalini yoga can be a great outlet.   It also relieves trauma from the root. Here are some additional benefits:

Benefits of Kundalini Yoga

  • Yoga calms the chaos within and brings centeredness.
  • Makes you present.
  • Reduces stress.
  • Reduces tension stored in the body from trauma. Per Dr. Van Der Kolk, it is a great tool to heal from trauma.
  • Develops a strong mind-body connection.
  • Develops self-awareness.
  • Makes you joyous.
  • Creates a deeper sense of connection and community between you and others in your group class and in general.
  • Heightened focus.
  • Increased clarity.
  • Builds inner strength.
  • An outlet to recycle pent-up energy.  Turns it into new energy that can be used for other activities.

Disadvantages of Kundalini Yoga

  • There are many different styles of yoga.  May have to try different styles till you find one that works for you. Kundalini is breathe-focused vs pose-focused. Anyone can do it.
  • Depending on where you go, it may be expensive.
